Public parks are both a blessing and a curse. Today's excursion proved more blessing and less curse. The "public" in public parks can sometimes be a nuisance which is one of the reasons I avoid this place like the plague despite the fact that it offers the only transitions complete with metal coping within a few miles of my home. Now that school is in session the place is pretty much empty up until mid afternoon. That gives me all the room I need to ride (which is a lot) without dodging Razor scooters, bikes, toddlers on over sized riding toys, and the occasional kids who like to use the quarter pipes as slicky slides. WHEE!!!! There are playgrounds all over the park. If I come across as a grouch it is because I am. I am an opinionated green furry monster who lives in a trash can. Charleston seriously needs a SKATE PARK. Public or private, it doesn't matter as long as it is a skate park. I appreciate Coonskin for what it is and am glad that the end of the summer season means the beginning of the skating seasoning with the return of early morning sessions in an otherwise empty park. I just hope that one of the many skatepark "rumors" are true and that someone somewhere will do the right thing. Todays pics are of me coming out of a frontside 50/50 grind on the ledge and a shot of some quarter pipe action.

I talked to Frog today and he says Focus will re open on September 15th (Saturday)
i just hope this time, maybe it will be ran a little better so we dont have to see it disapear in the wind. like before
Well said my friend, well said. It is sad to see skate parks come and go as they have here in WV. Iguana, Outdoor Extremes, Focus, all read like names on tombstones. Let's go dig Falcon back up.
that would be nice for the upcoming winter. if focus did open back up.but alot of the stuff from the old setup is gone.anybody know what the new set up is going to be? or who is going to make the ramps?
Workshop, I have heard but not seen for myself that a few ramps remain in the warehouse and that new ramps (bowl) were to be constructed. I say we organize ourselves like the Skaters for Portland (OREGON) Skateparks did and use their plan of action as a blueprint to find funding and get some skateparks (Plaza, bowl, whatever) going here in Charleston. Thanks for reading.
