Ken McGuire Speed Freaks 1989

Thanks to my friend at SRC Bypass for posting this today! Everyone has an opinion as to what skateboarding is. To me, this is it. Big wheels, speed, slides, and style. Enjoy.

Soul Slappy

Today's slappy pic brought to you by a kind stranger who was jogging through the curb spot this evening and stopped to watch. He then offered to "get a couple of shots" for me and I obliged. I was so stoked because this type of stuff never happens without someone trying to run off with your gear or something, but this dude was more than kind and was genuinely interested in what was going on. That's a rare occurrence in this "Age of Quarrel". Thanks "Mike", stay righteous.

Cohort Skates

I became enamored with Cohort Skates during the 2006 Oregon Trifecta. The guy showed up at Newberg, laid some decks out and took off on a big wide pointer style deck with trucks looser than mine. It was the most punk rock display I had seen in skateboarding since Dumes and the Smelly Curb crew annihilated the curbs during a street contest I was at in Chillicothe, Ohio, way back in 1989.
The Warpig (above)is 10" x 34" with a 16" wheelbase.
The Original (above)is 9.5" x 33.5" with a 15.5" wheelbase.

Claus Grabke & Jeff Hedges Streets on Fire

Pretty in Pink

Krooked Zig Zagger featuring the now defunct diamond-tail shape with Independent 149s and Kryptonics Slammer 60mm 88a single conical shape wheels from Marc's Board Shop.

The Kryptonics Slammer 60mm 88a wheels are excellent for street skating. You know what a fan I have been of the Rat Bones 60mm 85a and also of the Accel Rock n Rollers. The Kryptonics are the best of both worlds, perfect slip to grip ratio, controlled slides, and the single conical shape makes for an easy-on/easy-off curb slappy!

Hot eBay Buys!

13 months ago I began working with my friend Ned at Assault Skateboards to get some of his decks into my hometown. I'm not a shop owner, just that guy that shows up at the park with a box of decks willing to share the stoke of skateboarding. After selling several decks to locals I have decided to put the last two on eBay. I've priced them reasonably to help buyers offset the cost of shipping.

Pointer v2.0, buy it here.

Ricky Winsor SSD Deadpoint Chop Tail, buy it here.

Kryptonics Slammer 60mm 88a

I have a set of these NOS Kryptonics Slammer 60mm 88a wheels on the way. A little discolored by the years but no one will know the difference after one session. Pics soon!

Krooked Zig Zagger Ready To Roll

I've been sitting on this one for a while and finally set it up today. My first Krooked Zig Zagger was purchased back in 2008 and I've went through a few of them over the course of the last four years. The Krooked Zig Zagger is definitely an all time favorite of mine. Thanks to Marc's Board Shop for keeping me in stock!

Sick Boys

Timeless classic photo of Mike Archimedes in the midst of a hurricane.

Schmitt Stix Rip Saw 2

The Schmitt Stix Rip Saw 2 in olive stain. Hot! I had one of these in 1989 or so with a big piece of Rip Grip on the nose to clinch my ollie crail snatchers.

The top view exposes the rather phallic shape of the skateboard deck, a period piece from the "money bump" era. Yes, there was a time when bumps sold boards. They still do for me.

This is Ground Control to Major Tom

I'm late to the party as usual but... Here it is, the 1080, landed by 12 year old Tom Schaar.

Slappy Sunday

From the West Coast to East Coast and all points in between, Slappy Sunday is ON! Here's my DIY 10 second timer shot from today's low curb session.
